Utah Freeway Patrol troopers and Summit County sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday chased various motorcyclists who they say have been touring quicker than 150 mph by means of Summit County. A single male was arrested. (Laura Seitz, Deseret Information)
COALVILLE — One particular of an approximated seven motorcyclists traveling more rapidly than 150 mph on I-80 Wednesday evening was arrested by the Utah Highway Patrol.
Now the UHP is inquiring for the public’s support in identifying the other individuals who acquired away.
Just right before 8:30 p.m. witnesses referred to as 911 to report “seven bullet bikers touring at speeds in excessive of 150 mph weaving in and out of traffic eastbound on I-80 touring into Summit County from Salt lake County,” according to a police affidavit.
A UHP trooper noticed the team distribute out around all 3 lanes of site visitors. At the time, the team was traveling about 80 mph, the affidavit states. But as quickly as the trooper obtained driving the bikers, 4 of them sped away.

Troopers intercepted the bikes once again on point out Route 65 near East Canyon Reservoir. Sorto-Orellana, 31, was booked into the Summit County Jail and charged Thursday in 3rd District Courtroom with three counts of failing to prevent at the command of police, a third-diploma felony a few counts of reckless endangerment, a class A misdemeanor and three counts of reckless driving, a class B misdemeanor.
Prosecutors have asked for Orellana be held in jail without having bail.
