Sister Rose Andre Miller, CSA, baptized Mary Theresa, died peacefully Aug. 5, 2021, at St. Francis Property, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Mary was born in Decatur July 4, 1936, to the late Otto Andrew and Rose J. (Spangler) Miller. She grew up in Decatur with her 3 brothers and two sisters. Right after her graduation from Decatur Catholic Superior College in 1954, Mary entered St. Agnes Convent in Fond du Lac. She made her profession of vows in the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes as Sister Rose Andre Aug. 15, 1957.
Sister Rose Andre acquired her BS in Elementary Schooling from Marian Higher education in Fond du Lac in 1962, and her MS in Training, with an emphasis on the Montessori technique of early childhood enhancement, from Xavier University, Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1980. She also acquired many certificates in religious education and learning.
Sister Rose Andre taught kindergarten and primary grade small children in New York, Wisconsin and Indiana. She opened the kindergarten plan at Holy Family members College, Bronx, New York, and the kindergarten and daycare applications for St. Joseph’s School in Decatur. She served as the administrator of the St. Joseph’s Daycare from 1994-97. Her last many years of educational ministry were expended at St. Michael’s Parish in Plymouth, Indiana, the place she labored with the kindergarten class and directed religious education and learning programs for kids and adults. She is fondly remembered for her warm smile, her like of children and her knowledge as an early childhood educator.
In Oct 2003, Sister Rose Andre joined the local community of sisters at Nazareth Court and Middle in Fond du Lac. There, she relished working with her quite a few artistic and resourceful skills, primarily quilting and decorating, to greatly enhance the lifetime of the sisters, workers and guests. Failing health necessitated her move to St. Francis Home in November 2020, the place she obtained treatment till the time of her death.
Among survivors are her nieces and nephews, expensive good friends and the Sisters of St. Agnes, with whom she lived, prayed and ministered.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, John, Richard and James and her sisters, Ann Hinesh and Vera Burnet.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Nazareth Courtroom and Heart Chapel, 375 Gillett Street, Fond du Lac, with Father Kenneth Smits, Capuchin, presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Springs Cemetery, Fond du Lac.
Visitation will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday, also at the church, with a prayer assistance held at 9:30 a.m. Individuals attending any service are questioned to test in at the 375 Gillett Road entrance only.
A prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m.

The Sisters of St. Agnes are grateful to the nurses and team of Nazareth Court and Centre, St. Francis Property and Hospice Hope for their care of Sister Rose Andre in her last several years.
